Charlotte Haywood -- Nature

Hailing from Brighton, Charlotte Haywood comes at us with a her debut single; Nature. The 23 year old released this beauty of a song in March 2019, so needless to say I’m a little bit late to the party; but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to introduce you all to another incredible artist who you definitely need to keep an eye on.

A vocalist and keyboardist with a deep-rooted love for alternative R&B, Haywood is primarily focused on creating dreamy melodies filled with honeyed harmonies, mixed with stirringly dark undertones. Bringing you influences from all over the musical stratosphere; from FKA Twigs to The Internet, Haywoods' music creates somber tones with juxtaposing rich breathy vocals.

“A smooth sailing delight, with sumptuous vocals from Haywood, it's a gorgeous invitation into her beautifully soulful world..." -- Vegan Recordings, 2019

Smooth, enchanting synths welcome you in within the first fifteen seconds; then introducing a dragged beat and sleek bass line into the mix — matched perfectly with arpeggiated static synth and steady chords on keyboard — each note bringing with it a sense of tranquility and placidity that sends relaxing harmonies down from your head to the soles of your feet.

Haywoods’ vocals give Nature a very special finishing touch; an impassioned tone spreads throughout the entirety of the track. With just a splash of reverb and a whole lotta soul, Charlotte Haywood takes little pieces of each of her influences and smashes them all into a vast conglomerate of passion and intensity.

Haywood’s technique is also impressive, with the vocal slides (or portamento for those of you fluent in Italian musical terms) giving off an effortless and instinctive vibe; Haywood sings from her gut.

You can listen to Nature in all its lo-fi glory here, and you definitely don’t want to miss out on what Charlotte has planned in the near future, so be sure to follow her on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
